HIV Prevention Revolution

Current project

Measuring outcomes and maximising effectiveness

In this NHMRC Partnership Grant (led by The Kirby Institute) implementation research will be undertaken to optimise new biomedical prevention and HIV testing tools at a population level. New South Wales is the ideal location to undertake this research, as an Australian jurisdiction with a detailed HIV strategy, that incorporates the new prevention paradigm and explicit targets for the reduction of HIV transmission by 2020. The project will establish real-time data collection methods that will allow us to determine the impact of specific prevention strategies, as well as enable our government and community partners to improve program delivery during the course of the research program. The new knowledge about HIV prevention that will arise from this research will have a direct impact on program delivery in Australia and in other high income settings.
