Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education (Secondary)

The UNSW Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education is a four-year, full-time (or part-time equivalent) double degree designed for graduates wanting to pursue a career in arts and secondary-school teaching. After completing the program, you’ll have a professional teaching qualification as well as an Arts degree that will equip you to turn your passion into action.

This double degree offers flexibility and the ability to shape your education around your interests. You’ll be equipped with the tools for critical examination and the conduction of independent research. The Arts component of this degree will enable you to pursue your passion, opening the pathway to a broad and varied range of industries and careers.

A Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education is nationally accredited by NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). This accreditation allows you to teach for both government and non-government secondary schools. Our UNSW School of Education graduates pursue successful and rewarding careers as teachers throughout Australia as well as internationally. After completing this combined degree, you’ll have a professional teaching qualification as well as an Arts degree from the UNSW the prestigious UNSW Arts & Social Sciences.

UNSW School of Education is at the forefront of teaching excellence and a preferred provider of professional development and training for the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). The Education program prepares graduates to pursue a career in secondary-school teaching in New South Wales, Australia and overseas. In your final two years, you'll develop skills in classroom competence and spend up to 80 days in supervised teaching in at least two secondary-school contexts.
