Personalised English Language Enhancement (PELE), is a credit-bearing course developed to help you to improve your communication skills in English. It is open to all UNSW students. The course codes are HUMS1005 for undergraduate students and ARTS5505 for postgraduate coursework students.
This new course supports, encourages and guides you to take responsibility for your own English language enhancement. It consists of a lecture (2 hours) and a tutorial (2 hours) per week from Week 1 to Week 10. Both lecture and tutorial sessions are engaging and interactive and they help you strengthen your communication skills by introducing a number of effective learning tools and resources for independent learning. In this way, you will be able to address your own needs and, at the same time, become an independent learner. You can check the timetable for HUMS1005 and ARTS5505.
Am I eligible?
PELE is open to all students who are studying at UNSW but students from non-English speaking backgrounds will benefit most. UNSW Arts and Social Sciences students may take this course as either a Prescribed Elective or Free Elective, and students in other faculties may take it as either a Free Elective or a General Education course. Please contact your school office to find out if you can take PELE as a part of your degree.
How will I benefit?
Through hands-on learning, this program enhances your communication and independent learning skills, which are essential for your studies in Australia.
