Role of assistive technology in supporting people with a physical disability and complex care needs

Past project

This project, for Ageing, Disability and Home Care, Department of Communities NSW, consists of a literature review about the role of assistive technology (AT), including home modifications, in supporting people with physical disabilities and complex care needs. Recent increased interest in the potential of AT to promote independence among people with disabilities arises out of concerns about quality of life, and about decreases in the availability of informal caregivers and a shrinking long-term care workforce. The review is to investigate national and international literature on AT in a number of areas, with a particular focus on improving people’s independence.
