The project involved conducting an independent evaluation for the Lebanese Muslim Association of the Empowering Local Communities program, funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services.
The program consisted of 12 projects each with its own aims and approaches. The overall aims of the program were to increase engagement of the Muslim community in civil society, improve relationships and understanding between the Muslim and non-Muslim community, and support constructive identification by Muslims in a positive and progressive idea of Islam. The program had a 12 month duration from November 2013 to November 2014.
The SPRC evaluation provided oversight of the methodologies for data collection and analysis for the projects and for the program as a whole to ensure that, within the limitations of the resources available, the evaluation provides as robust and objective a view as possible of the program. In addition SPRC will conduct a number of focus groups and interviews with stakeholders, and will be responsible for writing the evaluation report based on the information collected over the duration of the program.
