Reflections: An exploration in rhythm and sound

Tom Waller // Percussion Recital

Over the last century, percussion has been transformed from the back of the orchestra to the centre stage.  As a solo and chamber instrument, composers have been intrigued by the expressive and sonic possibilities of percussion. Thomas is performing the well-known Marimba solo, Time for marimba by Minoru Miki, John Psathas’s Planet Damnation, a dialogue between timpani and digital tape and Christopher Deane’s Mourning Dove Sonnet for vibraphone. This recital demonstrates a wide range of expressive, technical and musical avenues. Join Thomas Waller as he delves into the world of contemporary percussion repertoire
