In order to avoid dangerous climate change the world must drastically limit its emissions of greenhouse gases. The aim of this project will be to provide a rigorous ethical framework for dividing the world’s remaining ‘carbon budget’ (CB).
The project aims to give women an autonomous history of their own as proactive consumers altering spaces outside the domestic sphere. This approach can be applied to consumption histories in different geographical contexts.
Focusing on the entire period of French rule in Algeria, this project looks at the impact of the former colonial power on colonised people. It questions long-held views about the empire and colonised people’s resistance to European domination.
