Summary
HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a relatively new, but highly effective, safe sex strategy that involves the regular use of antiretroviral medications by HIV-negative people to prevent the acquisition of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). This research study examines how men with primary male partners adapt to PrEP and negotiate its use, with a particular focus on whether PrEP could enable or mediate new shared meanings and social practices that may affect relationship quality and HIV prevention.
