India Immersion Programme

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences has been awarded 10 New Colombo Plan scholarships for a three-week summer intensive India Immersion Program on ‘Politics, Society and Foreign Policy’ at O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU), India in January 2019.

JGU is one of India’s leading private universities with extensive experience of hosting international students from universities around the world, including the US, UK and Australia, for short-term study. The program of study will allow UNSW students to gain a first-hand, in-depth understanding of India’s domestic politics, foreign policy and major socio-economic challenges. You will engage with leading Indian experts in these areas based at JGU and at other top Indian institutions. Students will be able to acquire a strong understanding of India’s democratic tradition, its domestic social and cultural contexts, its rise as a regional ‘Indo-Pacific’ power, and its emerging power at the global level.

The three-week program will include several field trips, including visits to institutions such as the Indian Parliament and Supreme Court
