Postgraduate HDR Candidates Committee

We support Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates by providing networking and educational opportunities to enrich students’ experience while completing their research degree.

Membership on the Committee is an excellent way to engage with and contribute to your HDR cohort. It also provides opportunities to raise your profile across the Faculty with key members of academic staff, and it provides professional experience which can be added to your CV.

The Committee is made up of members who:

  • create a strong postgraduate culture across UNSW Arts and Social Sciences
  • contribute to and improve the postgraduate experience
  • develop strategies for the Committee to support students experiencing issues in their postgraduate candidature

Membership involves a mix of advocacy and organisation. This entails:

  • regular attendance at Committee meetings, which are generally held every 1-2 months
  • events planning and coordination providing thoughtful input at meetings and timely responses to email communications
  • a willingness to discuss postgraduate issues with your peers and raise issues to the committee
