Evaluation of indigenous drug and alcohol programs

The Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) is leading an evaluation of the operation and effectiveness of six Indigenous drug and alcohol treatment/rehabilitation programs operating in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and the Northern Territory.

SPRC is partnering with AIC to conduct the evaluation, which will involve a comprehensive mixed method evaluation using both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. The evaluation is assessing the effectiveness of the following six alcohol and substance misuse rehabilitation programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and including, where appropriate, their effectiveness in reducing rates of offending, incarceration and recidivism and improving community safety.
