Changes in the propensity to take on informal care roles

Past project

This project explores whether the propensity to take on informal care roles (for people who are frail aged or have disability or long term health problems) is changing/will change over time with cohort/generational and other societal and social policy changes.

The project involves two main components: the development of conceptual models of the factors involved in the propensity to provide care, and changes in these over time, derived from a review the literature on the current and future supply of and demand for informal care and qualitative data; and identification of factors most closely associated with the propensity to care, and changes in these over time, drawing on a review and analysis of existing data sets to identify items of relevance to the conceptual model.
