Researcher Training and Development

UNSW Arts & Social Sciences researchers and research candidates have access to a broad range of research training and development support.

A number of development opportunities are provided centrally by the UNSW Research Division. Visit the UNSW Research website for a list of current opportunities.

In addition to University training and development, the Faculty also provides several initiatives to support our researchers.

Faculty research induction

Induction is an important event for all new academic staff and early career researchers in UNSW Arts & Social Sciences. It provides an introduction to the Faculty’s research environment, structures, support and approaches.

The Faculty also provides specific research training based on the needs and interests of our higher degree candidates, early career researchers and academics.

Research training program

UNSW Arts & Social Sciences provide a comprehensive research training program that is available on-line and face-to-face for all Higher Degree Research (HDR) students.

The research training program supports the work of our Schools and Centres and is designed to ensure HDR students feel supported throughout their candidature. Find out more about our research training program.

Research grant development workshops

Our development workshops will assist you in the preparation of specific grant scheme applications including:

  • ARC Discovery Projects
  • ARC Discovery Early Career Researcher Awards

These structured workshops include advice on the creation of specific sections of grant applications such as summaries, budgets, research track record and research environment.

For information about upcoming research grant development workshops please contact Sofia Haidar, Faculty Research Manager, at sofia@unsw.edu.au.

Annual Research Outputs Collection (AROC) and HERDC Income

The Annual Research Outputs Collection (AROC) is research publication data collected by the University each year, and is based on previous HERDC publication guidelines.

More information about HERDC income can be found on the UNSW Finance website.

For further information about the publications collection, please contact Sofia Haidar (Faculty Research Manager)
