The relationship between EAL teachers' levels of metalinguistic awareness andtheir assessment decision-making processes



I am looking at the relationship between what Victorian primary teachers know about grammar and how they assess the writing of EAL learners. I am identifying ways in which teachers draw upon their declarative knowledge as they assess, and strategies they use when dealing with familiar and unfamiliar metalanguage.
