Judy Motion

Professor of Communication
Professor

Professor Judy Motion is a member of the Environmental Humanities  at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia. Professor Motion has a distinguished research record in communication. She has written extensively on the power of public relations, public engagement processes and branding.

As a discourse scholar, she integrates an interdisciplinary perspective to the development of communication, public relations, media, marketing and organization studies. Her current work concentrates on building sustainability and engagement principles into public policy particularly science-society relations.

Funded research grants include leadership of a New Zealand research project titled  ‘Socially and Culturally Sustainable Biotechnology’ and membership, as an international researcher, on a research project titled ‘ Building our productivity: Understanding Sustainable Collective Productivity’.

Professor Motion’s work has been published in numerous journals including Public Relations Review, Journal of Public Relations Research, Media, Culture & Society, Organization Studies, Journal of Business Research, European Journal of Marketing, Public Understanding of Science and Political Communication.  She has contributed chapters to the Handbook of Public Relations, the Global Handbook of Public Relations and the Encyclopedia of Public Relations.
