Summary

My thesis examines the bodily and worlding aspects of historical fiction, as well as the idea of fiction as a 'historical methodology' (Pinto 2010). Looking at the historical novel in an Australian setting my thesis demonstrates how certain novels that emerged from the History Wars offer genuine insights into the realities of British Colonisation and frontier violence. This project also comprises of a creative work titled Glossolalia, a novel about my ancestor, the notorious Reverend William Bedford of Van Diemen's Land (1781-1852).
