James Bedford

James Bedford is a tutor and PhD candidate in creative writing at the University of New South Wales. He is the recipient of an APA and Research Excellence Award and was a visiting doctoral student at the Oxford Centre for Life-Writing. He is currently working on his first novel about his ancestor, the notorious Rev. William Bedford of Van Diemen’s Land (1781-1852). His short story ‘One Eye’ features in Southerly. 

He graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2011 with first class honours and received a University Medal for Creative Writing. His research interests include Fiction, Life-Writing, Memoir, Bio-fiction, Creative Non-Fiction, Post Colonial Literature, and the Historical Novel.
