Ash Watson

Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr Watson is a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Vitalities Lab, Social Policy Research Centre and Centre for Social Research in Health, UNSW Sydney. She is interested in digital technologies, speculative futures, storytelling and fiction, and the creative turn in sociological research. She works with Professor Deborah Lupton (UNSW) and Professor Mike Michael (Exeter) on the ARC Discovery Project 'Living with Personal Data: Australians’ Understandings and Practices'. Some of her other projects focus on zine cultures and digital queerness/community-building. Her PhD was awarded in late 2018.

In 2017 Ash was a postgraduate Endeavour Research Fellow at Goldsmiths, University of London. She is the creator and editor of So Fi Zine, an innovative open access publication for arts and social science cross disciplinary inquiry with a sustained international readership and contributor pool. She is also the invited inaugural Fiction Editor the The Sociological Review's short story series.
