Ash Watson

Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr Watson is a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Vitalities Lab, Social Policy Research Centre and Centre for Social Research in Health, UNSW Sydney. She works with Professor Deborah Lupton (UNSW) and Professor Mike Michael (Exeter) on the ARC Discovery Project 'Living with Personal Data: Australians’ Understandings and Practices'. Her research focuses on digital technologies, speculative futures, fiction and zines. Her PhD was awarded in late 2018.

In 2017 Ash was a postgraduate Endeavour Research Fellow at Goldsmiths, University of London. She is the creator and editor of So Fi Zine, an innovative open access publication for arts and social science cross disciplinary inquiry with a sustained international readership and contributor pool. She is the invited inaugural Fiction Editor the The Sociological Review's short story series. Her debut novel Into the Sea was published in 2020 with Brill.
