Celebrating Equity, Diversity and Inclusion for LGBTQIA Pride month

26 Jun 2017

The month of June is LGBTQIA Pride, commemorating the pride parades that sprung up in the wake of the Stonewall riots in New York in 1969. To celebrate Pride, UNSW Arts & Social Sciences' LGBTQIA Working Group invited UNSW students, staff, alumni and allies to share positive statements in this video.

Together We Can is this year's Sydney Pride theme. This statement reflects the sense of collective responsibility that lies at the core of UNSW's 2025 Strategy.

As a forward-looking 21st century university, UNSW is driven to improve lives through advancing knowledge and understanding, and with them equality, diversity, open debate and economic progress.

LGBTQIA has been identified a key area for development by our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Board, alongside Gender, Culture & Language, Disability, Indigenous Strategy, and Flexible Work & Leave Options.

The Arts & Social Sciences LGBTQIA Working Group is calling for members to collaborate on our strategy. We look forward to working with you to build a more inclusive community and celebrating the strength that diversity brings.
