Gay and bisexual men and hepatitis C survey

This study explores gay and bisexual men’s understandings of hepatitis C. Researchers conducting this study are investigating gay and bisexual men’s sexual practice, their illicit drug use and use of social-sexual networks in order to better understand the impact of hepatitis C infection within these populations. The findings of this study will lead to the development of strategies that will help to minimise new hepatitis C infections among gay and bisexual men. The findings will also be used to inform healthcare and social support services so that they are better able to deal with hepatitis C in gay and bisexual communities.

Finally, the findings of this study will suggest ways to lessen the stigma attached to hepatitis C and HIV/hepatitis C co-infection among gay and bisexual men.
