The July 2019 issue of Sex Education journal is a special issue focusing on sex, sexuality and education in South Africa.
This themed issue seeks to answer some of the big questions concerning how sex, sexualities and education continue to be constructed in South Africa.
Issues addressed include:
- South African contributions to LGBT education internationally
- Negotiating femininity in the context of sexually explicit materials
- South African Black male teachers and same-sex desire
- Feminine sexual desire and shame in the classroom
- Using Photovoice with orphans to explore sexual violence
This issue is jointly edited by Emeritus Scientia Professor Peter Aggleton from the Centre for Social Research in Health, UNSW Sydney, along with Deevia Bhana (University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa) and Mary Crewe (University of Pretoria, South Africa).
The entire special issue is available under open access for the month of July.
