Engaging gay Asian men: hard to research amongst the hard to reach?
HIV social and behavioural research has been part and parcel of a visible transformation of local gay Asian men, their network formation and community building over the past two decades.
Associate Professor Limin Mao, from CSRH at UNSW Sydney, presents at the third annual Sex Lecture, reflecting on her research in this area alongside shifting approaches towards engaging and collaborating with ethnic minorities that are often marginalised.
Following Professor Mao’s lecture, a panel on community building, engagement and empowerment for local gay Asian men is held.
Introduction by Professor Susan Dodds, Dean of Arts & Social Sciences Faculty at UNSW.
Panellists are Brent Mackie (ACON), Dr Bill Kefalas (UNSW Health Service) and Dr Shih-Chi Kao (Sydney Local Health District).
