Arts & Social Sciences facilities

As a student of UNSW Arts & Social Sciences you will have access to some of the latest technologies and facilities that will allow you to learn in an environment that supports best practice in teaching and learning.


Our IO Myers Studio is a flexible teaching space that is also suitable for live performances, video screenings and cross-media experimental works.

Studio One is an intimate black box theatre with flexible seating for 70. A custom built teaching space, it is often the centre for a range of performances and comedy evenings.

Music facilities

If you are in need of a recording studio, electronic music lab, keyboard lab or piano studios then our music facilities have got you covered.

Dance/drama studios

The Robert Webster Building houses our four dance and drama studios with each containing vinyl sprung floors and mirrored walls and ballet barres. Some come equipped with pianos, sound systems and/or AV projectors.

Additional spaces are availble through Arc.

Film, sound and editing rooms

As a film or media student you may have access to 4 film viewing rooms, 3 video and sound editing rooms, a stop motion animation studio, multi-media labs and computer labs which are housed in the Robert Webster Building.

Stop-motion animation studios

The two stop-motion studios located in the Robert Webster Building are adaptable and creative spaces that support a combination of traditional and digital animation practice.

Sound studios

The two sound studios in the Robert Webster Building are adept for music or film production. Deceptively simple, make no mistake these are powerful spaces. Just add imagination.

Language labs

Three sophisticated language labs are housed in the Morven Brown building. At the heart of the system is Sanako Lab100, an advanced digital language teaching solution. This equipment allows for a variety of interactive language teaching activities.

Conference interpreting room

Amongst the language labs in the Morven Brown building is a conference interpreting room. This room can facilitate 20 delegates speaking up to 6 languages. There are 5 interpreting booths that can house 10 interpreters. There is also an infrared listening system allowing for up to 30 audience members who can listen in any language.

This facility allows students to cut their teeth on exactly the same equipment they will use in their professional career.
