Peer Mentoring

Use your experience to help others - be a mentor

The peer mentoring program links senior students to groups of first-year students.

It is designed to support and encourage new students and give them an opportunity to meet others and learn about the who, what, where and how of uni life.

You may remember back to your first year and what it was like for you when you first walked onto campus or into a lecture theatre. Now it's your chance to make a difference to that transition.

A mentor is:

third or fourth-year student, in 2007, in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences,
who is keen to share their experience with others,
is motivated to acquire and use new skills, and
is a listener and a doer.

Why should I volunteer?

This program offers great benefits to mentors.

It is an opportunity for you to:

use the knowledge and experience you have gained @ university to support the success of new students,
attend training and use communication, leadership and group facilitation skills,
build networks, and
demonstrate to potential employers that you are motivated and have been proactively involved in university life.
