1. How did you first find out about your program at UNSW?

I first heard of this program at UNSW when I was in Year 10, through a student teacher who was also studying BMusBEd. She was completing her final year teaching at my school, and later became a full-time teacher there.

2. What attracted you most to the program?

I was most attracted by UNSW’s reputation and how the program was structured to support the pursuit of my own interests. It also gave me liberty to explore my love and passion for music in much greater depth and scope than before, while interacting with academics and brilliant thinkers.

3. What do you enjoy most about the program and why?

I think the most lasting impression this program has left on me is the profound sense of belonging in a group of like-minded, passionate people – people who love music and want to share that with others. This sense of community and learning together only made my university experience richer.

4. What type of career do you hope to have and how well do you feel equipped for it?

After university, I hope to secure work as a secondary school teacher or music program coordinator. My attitude is, if there’s someone who wants to learn about music, then I’m willing to teach. I feel that studying at UNSW has taught me many things about being a teacher and also many things about myself.

5. What inspires you most about your area of interest?

Music speaks without words. It means so many different things to different people, yet it can be common ground for many. That is what fascinates and inspires me to be a music teacher.
