Dear Member
Re: 2002 AAPAE Conference
I am writing to inform you of a development in relation to this year's Annual conference of the Australian Association for Professional and Applied Ethics (AAPAE), which is expected to raise AAPAE's national and international profile and to enhance the experience for those members who attend this year's conference.
Through an offer from the Key Centre for Ethics, Law, Justice and Governance (Griffith University), we have been able to secure a unique arrangement for this year's Conference between AAPAE and the International Institute for Public Ethics (IIPE). IIPE is an international organisation dedicated to forging relations between sectors of society by supporting networks in business, the professions, government and non-government organisations.
The 2002 AAPAE Conference will be held in association with the 2002 IIPE Conference between October 4th and 7th, at the Sheraton Towers and Hotel, Brisbane, Australia. The AAPAE Conference will be held on the first two days (Oct 4th and 5th). Normal rates will apply to the AAPAE conference and there will be a special rate for those AAPAE members who wish to attend the full four days.
The general theme of the conferences will be 'Reconstructing "the Public Interest" in a Globalising World: Business, the Professions and the Public Sector'.
AAPAE and IIPE are joining forces in order to enhance the experience of those who attend each conference. The combining of the conferences will give AAPAE members access to an increased range of professionals engaged academics and informed practitioners.
[A brochure from the Conference Organising Committee and a link to the conference website will appear on the website soon] calling for papers. If you have any queries about this year's conference or wish to attend or present a paper, please contact Mr. Douglas Magendanz, Conference Secretary on (07) 3875 5301 or email d.magendanz@mailbox.gu.edu.au.
I hope that you will take advantage of the opportunities that will be opened up by the association between AAPAE and IIPE by presenting a paper or by attending one or both conferences. Refereeing of papers by AAPAE registrants will be arranged -- as last year -- where presenters wish for this. The Annual General Meeting of the association will be held during the Conference and there will be opportunities for AAPAE members to get together.
We look forward to your participation in the Conference.
Yours sincerely,
Professor John Morgan
AAPAE President
